About Japanese crafts

Is everybody has interest about Japanese traditional crafts? We have a lots of crafts which is clothes, home decor, interior, toy, pottery...and so on.
I found great web magazine it's all about Made in Japan.
It's called PingMag Make.
Very interesting!!

PingMag MAKE is the sister site to PingMag. We use an interview format to put the spotlight on a wide range of people active in rural areas. We document the voices of these unknown heroes and broadcast them to the world. It’s the Japan-based magazine about people and making things, coming out once a week. We’re passing on the passion, ideas, skills, and life stories of people who are building today and exploring tomorrow: craftsmen, engineers, entrepreneurs, and inventors. Stay tuned!

LOVE - mini canvas with easel

☆New in the shop☆

Love accumulates quietly in my mind like the leaf accumulates on the ground.

愛 meaning love.
I used two pink dots in the middle of "愛" which express the passion in the heart. "心"meaning heart or mind.
I wrapped the canvas with the kimono material and put a little piece of chirimen for the "love".

*Canvas
W 6cm x H 8cm
*Easel

precious - ornament ball box

☆New in the shop☆

This craft idea from Japanese KIMEKOMI craft.
The history of kimekomi (pronounced kee may ko mee) dates back to the first half of the eighteenth century. Kimekomi originated with dolls. A wooden base was carved into and fabric was then used to decorate the doll-clothing, face, hair, etc.

Kimekomi means “tuck in” in Japanese. They also may be known as “quilt balls”

I made this with a chirimen material tucked into styrene form ball. I scooped out the inside for the box.

More about Kimekomi is here....

kirigami magnet (Snowflakes)

New in the shop☆
Yes, this idea is from the last weekend craft. I used gorgeous Japanese Washi(paper) with gold, silver, black, red based pattern.

Blue and Green based magnets are 7.3cm square and yellow based magnets are 5.5cm square.

Kirigami(paper cutting) isa a variation of Origami(paper folding) where the artists is allowed to make cuts in the paper. The enables the artist enhance the visual presentation of the art work, at the expense of simplicity.

First blog

Nice to meet you everyone!
Ok,this is my first blog in English, I have a Japanese blog for my Japanese friends but this blog for all over the world (hopefully...) If my English is something wrong..... just laugh it!

A little bit about my craft and myself...
I grew up in Tokyo,Japan and moved to Australia after my meeting my partner overseas, we both enjoy being involved in our own craft.
I'm proud of my traditional culture(Japanese) coz of it delicately and elegance, so beautiful! I just thought I would share that as I'm making little sachets type of craft, the idea is of old, like 200 years old. In the days of old, where KIMONO was worn traditionally, left over pieces were used make various items (like this photo)
This art of needlework called SAIKUMONO is a very delicate way of a hand sew craft from time gone by in which disappeared during the period of war, but now it is revived anew.
The Japanese women used the art of SAIKUMONO to express the beauty of nature though out the four seasons.

Please check my Etsy shop to find more Japanese art craft!!
